As a retired triathlete that wanted to just explore and have fun, would you choose the new endurace (max 38 but can be fitted with 40) or grail? The reason why I even considered the endurace is because I can just swap to a 30mm wheelset and join my buddies on a Sunday cafe ride but also have a freedom to put on 40 and do a light gravel.

I’m torn between the two. Help.

  1. Grail will only fit 42mm tires so you’re not really gaining a whole lot over Endurance.

And you can also use road tires on the Grail.

I’m getting the new endurace and doing what you’re suggesting. Get two wheelsets and use it both for light gravel and road group rides👌

  3. As an owner of both an Aeroad (somewhat similar to an Endurace) and a Grail, this would be my consideration:

Do you mainly want to be able to do fast rides on tarmac with your mates and some light gravel? Go for the Endurace.

Do you want to do rougher gravel and occasionally ride on tarmac, go with the Grail.

You can still have plenty of fun on a Grail on tarmac, but it is definitely slower than an actual road bike.
