Just got this women’s 2012 57 ruby. I’m about 5’10”, I clear the top bar when standing over it flat footed, and I think I could turn this into an alright men’s bike. Any tips on what to change? (I’m pretty new to road bikes)

You may want lights and more reflectivity for safety on a mostly black bike

Geometry should be alright for someone your size. I’m also 5’10” and probably want to go one size down, but you can make it work. My GF has this bike in a 51 cm and one thing I noticed is how tall the top tube bearing cover is, leads to an even more upright riding posture than the spec sheet would suggest.

There really is no such thing as a women’s bike or a men’s bike. As long as it’s comfortable and it works for you it’s the Bike for you.

Hey dude I’m a dude and I ride a Dawes Sheila “womens” road bike. Been my daily for over a year now. Love it

Nothing to add except I love those colors.

Some women use narrower handlebars than on the same sized men’s bikes, but I believe(?) that this bike has 42cm bar width stock.

I was a Hybrid bike and MTB rider for decades, until I bought my first road bike last year at the age of 56. It was used but well maintained and came with a Specialized Romin Evo saddle. The most comfortable saddle I’ve ever ridden. Was comfortable from the first ride, even without padded shorts.

So…does pink make it women’s? I mean at this point that’s about the only indicator.

The Rules of The Velominati; rule # 25 states; “The bikes on top of your car should be worth more than the car.” 🤪🤣😝

Those colors and that saddle require a coochie snorcher.
Sorry, it can’t be fixed.
