Love my Rocky Mountain Solo 30 but just realized it's a size too big for me, hence why it hasnt been a very comfortable ride these last four years. I would gladly swap it for a small but it seems like they're discontinued.

I'm looking to upgrade with a focus on bikepacking so mounts are important. Which of these would be your choice? Open to other suggestions.

Edit: PRICES ARE IN CAD

I would never have paid more than $1,600 for my trek checkpoint alr5. They are 3k now? ahah.  Pull the plug, the bike industry is dead!

Out of these, I’d personally prefer the Topstone. But have you looked into Litespeed?

  3. Personally, the 2x on the gears is a must for me. A bike sucks if you can’t climb a mountain, even if you only do it like once a year.

  4. $3000 is so much money for SRAM Apex. I’d look for a rival bike in that price range.

  5. Marin Gestalt XR. $2400
    Al frame/Carbon fork

    Sram Apex 1×12 40t – 10-52 cassette

    Hydo disc brakes

    Dropper post

    50mm clearance

Fork mounts, rack mounts, fender mounts

It has a hybrid gravel/mtb geo with a slack ht angle and can handle so much. I regularly ride single track on mine but also do long road days too.

  6. 2x is underrated in the modern era.  Also, Shimano drop bar stuff is miles ahead of sram imo

  7. Canyon grizzle All other bikes look like they are overpriced. Aluminum frames. Canyon grizzle will have a similar frame as all the other ones but looks like a better group set.

Giant. Giant. Giant. From a local dealer. Do not spend 2,700 on a canyon with no dealer support. I bought a grizl and I love it, but it took three weeks for me to chase down an awful rattle with no bike shop support. They had shipped it with the BB just hand tight.
