    Well those threads look destroyed. There’s more than one way to fix that. One option that doesn’t require machining is a threadless bottom bracket.

  2. The threads are toast. Cheapest fix would be to get a thread together BB made for a press fit frame and use that since your bike is pretty much a press fit BB now that those threads are gone.

  3. Please always provide a little more context to whatever bike you are working on.

    If that bottom bracket you tried to install there, is too large, the most likely explanation would be, the bottom bracket shell is NOT BSA standard (nowadays also referred to as ISO). So probably an ITA one which is larger than BSA/ISO.

    As for the threads, yeah not ideal but even if these threads were completely stripped, it would be as easy to insert the BB.

    So please check the width of the BB shell, if it is 70mm, it is ITA.

    What bike is this on? It looks too old to be a T47 BB, but french and italian are possible.
