I’m riding actively since 2012, and the MTB is my most important thing in life (apart from the job and family of course). My girlfriend had some Walmart bike bought back in 2010 I guess that still “rolls” but you can imagine how trashy it feels. Steel frame, 3×6 drivetrain, 26 wheels and v-brakes…
Not long ago she said she want more fitness in her life and something that will let her go out. She tried my bike and was blown away how smooth and comfy full sus are. My bike was too big for her but I’ve seen a spark in her eyes.
So I made some used market digging and got this Specialized Rumor for a $350. It was pretty neglected so made a full service for bearings in frame and wheels, for suspension, new chain, chainring, cassette, pedals and put my old sram guide rs brakes.
She tried it and immediately fell in love. I swear I haven’t seen her so happy in a long time.
She already rides it to work, exploring the nearest forest and field roads, tries to take the bike everywhere she could and every day asks me to join her on evening rides.
It really takes a little to make the people happy 🤗

Set up the brake levers so the notch at the end of the lever is where her pointer finger rests.

1 finger is all that is needed

  3. Cool ride, not familiar with the rumor , but awesome gift. Hope she enjoys riding w you. Great upgrade to relationship imo

  4. Drop the brakes a touch , and at such a good price, maybe get it fit, by a pro…. Have fun ! Elmo

  5. Excellent work hooking yet another unsuspecting victim! 😜 Best addiction that anyone can have! 🙌

  6. There is nothing better than sharing a hobby you love with your partner and seeing them genuinely get hooked on it.
