My kid is in the process of outgrowing their Thule Yepp Mini. I love the dang thing although from an xBiking perspective the foot retention ran into my front basket pretty quickly as the lid grew.
Now this is the next best thing out there (I’m told) and the kid loves it so far. A few ATB/Xbiking notes.
1: the stem attachment is designed to only work with a threadless 1 1/8” upper stem (fair. That’s a 25 year old standard) I 3D printed an adapter. This version needs a revision but I’ll toss a set up on eBay under printed vintage as soon as they are resolved and link the .STL files here.
1.1: the closure hardware WILL catch your center pull cable. You may need to swap to V brakes or get a stem mounted cable stop to avoid this. I’m just going with God.
2: The seat is right where I want my knees to be. I don’t know how sustainable this will be as the kid grows.
3: the seatpost clamp works on my 26.2 but the exposed M3 bolt for adjustment is present on my leg and would be brutal in a fall. It’s just begging to rip through my skin if things go sideways.
4: no adapter for vintage handlebars. I also fixed that with a printed spacer, but funny to me that 31 and 35mm are the only options available now. What’s wrong with 25.4 and 26mm?
The dang thing cost more than the bike, but it’s crazy well thought out. Nearly infinitely adjustable. Holds up to 60 lbs. ultimate xBiking
In the end I may N+1 and use this as an excuse to get a modern 1×11 hardtail. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
