I got a new aeroad Slx 8 axs
There is an indent about an inch long on the top of the downtube. It is oblong. Not extremely noticeable.
The Shimano tech who put it together called back and confirmed his two carbon framed canyons and even another one in the shop have this. Does your bike have this? Possible for the hydraulic break lines or something internal? Is this normal?
Thanks in advance.
I did contact canyon and they said to send it back as an option.
Edit: it’s hard to sell with the naked eye. You can certainly feel it.
The bike mechanic told me to open a warranty claim with canyon initially. Two of my bike friends said to return it.

Are those other scratches/scuffs on the downtube as well?
If so, I would definitely return that. That is unacceptable. The indent looks like something impacted the downtube and caused the scuffs/scratches.
Feel Like the tech who put it together doesnt really Take Care while handling or storing the Frames
Since it’s carbon, you wouldn’t get a “dent” from impact – as someone suggested here – like you would in alloy, steel or Ti. You’d also get spider cracks/lines visible in paint finish, if it was impact related.
Since you received confirmation that another frame had the same anomaly going on in the same spot, a likely cause is that something caused it at the lay up or curing process time while in mold.
What a coincidence. To clarify my findings, it was another customer’s Ultimate CF that had that similar cutout(?)/dent(?). That customer bike doesn’t seem to have been assembled by us so for those thinking it was us miss handling it, hate to break it to you but we care about our work haha. On this customer bike though even though it’s visible I could not feel any difference from the rest of the paint unlike yours having a slight difference. Both my carbon appear to not have it, but my frames don’t have full internal routing and have different paint finishes, matte blue on my ultimate and a color shift on my inflite. Another thing to note is that for my bikes the ultimate is a 21 and the inflite CF while a 25 is technically the previous generation slx frame. I still have the picture for the customer bike but I can’t publicly share service pictures as per policy. For descriptive purposes it is actually a skinny pill shape more than just a circle as it appears in the pictures here.
