Just use bike chain lube. Seriously. Don’t mess around with anything else. Bicycle chain lube only.
When I was big into mtb back in the noughts chain wax became a bit of a trend. I remember a lot of people used Putoline which came as a wax bath – you heated up the tin container and then bathed your chain in the, now liquid, wax.
