The Trek will be lighter and absorb road vibrations better than the aluminum Colnago.

I don’t trust aluminum to age well. People who understand metallurgy say it has a finite number of stress cycles. I saw a recent GCN interview with a very sciency carbon fiber guy who opined that it ages much better. This is a comment of under informed opinion, so I am willing to be educated. Until something changes my mind, though, I would go carbon every time.

Old carbon over old aluminum any day. If you have a well used aluminum bike, keep an eye out for any stress cracks.
