hey all,

so I’ve tried many cycling bibs (Castelli, giordana, Pactimo, Oakley, gore etc.) but the one i find most comfortable is the “parmi informal bib” I picked up on sale a while back with this elastic interface chamois.

unfortunately the company went under and I can’t seem to find bibs with the same or similar chamois. anyone have any ideas? it’s fairly thin but very dense/gel pad.

I know EI make a ton of different types, but unfortunately you can’t search for shorts with a specific pad.

fwiw I’ve been down the rabbit hole

  • i tried assos mille gt and it was one of the most uncomfortable shorts I’ve ever tried (for my posterior anyway)
  • gore distance has a similar pad, but the placement is too far back so constantly have to readjust – they also went under
  • pactimo summit has a similar-ish pad, but not as dense
  • giordana cirro s fits well, but again not as dense and start to feel it after 15mi
  • castelli progetto isn’t similar really, but is prob the next most comfortable I’ve tried

would velocio be with a look?

thx

  1. Professional-Row227 on

I bought a pair from AliExpress from Rion with the Paris HP elastic interface. Definitely my favorite bib for a long day out (longest ride so far in them was 400km). I picked up two pairs in 2023 for $33 each. Looks like they are currently about $60 on AliExpress.

  2. OP here, thanks for the recs all. I think I narrowed it down to the “Gravel Performance” pad from Elastic Interface which has dense 200kg/m3 padding.

Most others have up to 120kg/m3 which I’m guessing is why they don’t feel right.

It looks like GripGrab, X Tiger, Limkoo (?) have shorts with it based on my googling.

  3. The GripGrab Pace bibs also use that pad, I believe. Very solid quality brand.
