Very classy. And I’m so jealous of your built-in carry handle! The only other one I’ve ever seen is on a friend’s who had to build his own frame to have one.

I’ve heard these raise seat stay designs are pretty flexy – how does yours handle that much of a load?

that nishiki is a proper sleeper. the raise seat stay thing is a legitimate concern but honestly the real test is how it actually rides loaded versus how it looks on paper. mine flexes noticeably under load but not in a way that bothers me, just feels a bit more compliant than a modern rigid frame. the trade off is you get that built in handle and a lighter overall package, which matters when you’re doing overnighters on a bike that old. if it was bucking you around on rough terrain i’d say swap it, but for steady packing duty it does the job. how much are you carrying on yours?
