  3. Steer clear of Devonport at kicking out time and New Year's Eve and any time else, though! 🤣
And the urban wasteland in the city centre. Also Swilly, Beirut and St Budeaux are pretty bloody dodgy.
Just a minute… Who made this list?

  4. Exeter should not be on the list. My step sister lives there and she is the most evil POS known to man. Shes some sort if architect but underneath she is pure evil.

  5. I briefly considered moving to Plymouth. Great for easy access to Cornwall, dramatic coastal scenery and Dartmoor. Housing is cheap/affordable for a very simple reason that much is either Victorian or poorly built post war replacement for the heavy bomb damage. The rebuild of the centre is more like that of an eastern European city built in the post-war Communist era and there is heavy industrial pollution in the Devonport area. There is a simple reason why Plymouth doesn’t have a single Waitrose or a John Lewis store – the city doesn't have the catchment density or demographic required to support these formats, you have to cross the Tamar Bridge to Saltash for a Waitrose and pay £1.50 toll. While the shoreline does have some coastal delights, there are too many travel bottlenecks, making rush-hour travel a nightmare. Public transport is poor because the buses get caught up in the same snarl ups. I even recognised some secondhand London buses, removed because they were older style polluting diesels – but fine to run around Plymouth. Cycling is challenging both because of the hills and lack of cycling infrastructure. The only railway line connecting it to the rest of the country is frequently closed whenever there are high winds on the vulnerable coastal section near Dawlish and the nearest motorway is almost 50 miles away near Exeter. Much of Plymouth is lower income, with some areas in the bottom 10% – labelled “economically challenged“. Finally, it is extensively covered by speed cameras including stretches of 20 mph main roads, with average speed cameras – you have been warned!
