In this video, I take the Volt Urban LS on a full-day adventure across the capital, starting at Volt’s London showroom near Borough Market before riding through Notting Hill, climbing the hills of Hampstead, and finishing in the heart of the City at the Barbican.

With a claimed range of up to 55 miles, automatic gearing, a carbon belt drive and a lightweight urban-focused design, can the Volt Urban LS make a city as vast as London feel manageable?

Along the way, I’ll be testing:
⚡ Real-world battery range
⚡ Hill climbing performance
⚡ Comfort over longer distances
⚡ Automatic gear shifting
⚡ Everyday practicality for commuting and exploring

Whether you’re considering your first e-bike, looking for a commuter bike, or simply curious about electric bikes in London, this review should give you a good idea of what the Urban LS is capable of.

  1. The translation is frighteningly good… the German one, anyway. It’s also interesting to hear you speak Spanish for a change 😂

  2. I loved the volt I bought back in 2018, but wish I’d known the gearbox needed an oil service after just 400 miles (missed that one and ruined it eventually), and also found out the motor used plastic gears which eventually wore out and can’t be replaced at component levels. So I’m now at the point where the battery has expired (replacement was recommended after 5 years), the motor and the gearbox needs replacing. £1500 all told! Hence the bike has sat unused for a couple years and I dusted off my 25 year old Trek and got that back on the road for about £150. Harder work for a 50+ year old in hilly Devon, but fitter as a result

  3. Another interesting cycling tour video, nicely done. That is quite useful information to know that Volt takes precautions and prioritizes battery safety and reliability.

  4. A well thought out e-bike, but for the price it would be nice to choose your own colour.
And for a taller rider maybe a different stem length option as well.
    Nice review and professionally edited.

  5. Most of that bike is probably made in China and then assembled in the UK, not made in the UK. Price wise it's to expensive for what you get. Great review though.

  6. I'm curious, the Quadlock mount is nicely integrated, but I notice there's no vibration dampener. Has anyone heard any reports of destroyed iPhones?

  7. I like this bike but I prefer choosing the gear I want. Plus, I find brakes with auto electrical cutoff is unnecessary & just another thing to go wrong in the future.

  8. Really nice review, but I have to say, I really hate those 180 (or whatever it is) degrees takes you use in your videos. I can see how they’d be useful for security tootage, but in this case they don’t seem to add anything and the image is heavily distorted, so what’s the point?

  9. £2,000+ ???!!! How are lower income households supposed to afford these things. The e-bike market seems to only pander to middle and upper income people.

Are there any more affordable options?

  10. You are lovely. The bike isn't bad either. Thanks for the tour of London.
Cheers from across the pond from less restricted US where more places allow 28mph versus 15.5.
As a performance cyclist with and without a motor, as I routinely hit 25 mph on my roadbike with no motor, crazy how onerous UK ebike speed restrictions are when performance cyclists on both sides of the pond routinely sustain higher average speeds than your laws allow for ebkes.
Ride safe and thank you pretty lady.

  11. i am a175,000 miler imcan tell just by looking at the bike thats its going to be uncomfortable and it has not got shimano hydraulic brakes either

  12. Quadlock mounting a phone to a rigid bicycle is going to destroy its lens stabilization. Optical lens stabilization literally moves the lens around to compensate when you take photos, shaking the phone will kill that mechanism sooner or later. Going on the grass and watching the phone smash up and down… won't take long at that rate. Also, since this is almost certainly a sponsored video, you're required to state that up front and center so people know you're not doing unbiased reporting.
