Yeah that fork is backwards. Brakes go on riders left side. Should make the handling feel less twitchy too.

Like the other comments say, turn your fork around. You can loosen these 3 bolts a little (maybe just the bottom two holding your stem), hold your handlebars straight, and turn the wheel counterclockwise so the brake is on the other side.

Also another note, loop your lock through the frame. If someone wants to steal a bike, you’re loosing everything but the wheel the way you’re doing it now

Nice bike! I recently bought a used Mongoose Malus fatbike for my desert camping and Burning Man adventures. I often see people at Burning Man who picked up a bike at Walmart on the way in, and the bike was assembled with the fork backwards like this. I used to stop them and offer to turn their fork around so the bike will ride better, but they would look at me like I was crazy and said the bike rides just fine and no thank you. So I stopped telling people. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

You’ll like it even more once the fork is on correctly. I am very interested to hear if you can feel a difference in how it rides/turns/steers once the fork is flipped the correct direction.

I hope that fork was the only mistake that the day laborer made while assembling the BSO. I wish you the best of luck with it. Hopefully it ignites a love that ends up with a great upgrade on the next one.

Enjoy your ride. Just make sure you set it up correctly as others have mentioned. At Berm Peak YT channel it even survived being thrown into the ocean. It’s a great bike.

  7. Ok all fixed and yes definitely notice a difference especially in turns. Thanks for the help. (My first time with a FatTire bike)
