Saw this 80s Brompton MK1 on display in the basement of Covent Garden Brompton Junction today. One of the early productions, there is this black plastic handle kind of thingy attached to the non-drive side crank that looks like it can be swung in and out perpendicular to the crank, anyone know what is the purpose of it?

  1. That’s a lever for the “folding” pedal on the left crankarm iirc. Still has the same flat in the rear tyre since I left the store in ’23

  2. Looks like instead of folding or removing the pedal, you would remove half the crank arm, with pedal attached.

Amazing to see the iterative changes from this one to the new models.
