After a brief train ride south to give my troublesome knee a fighting chance, it’s time to find out whether this pilgrimage can continue.
Leaving the familiar cycle routes of the Loire Valley behind, I arrive in Angoulรชme and head into a wilder and more unpredictable corner of France on my way to Plum Village.
Along the way, I dodge thunderstorms, discover that wild camping comes with an enthusiastic local tick population, and make the questionable decision to continue cycling long after my food supplies have run out. Fortunately, a group of cheerful/trollied men in a cafรฉ point me towards a bakery before things become truly desperate.
There’s also a beautiful campsite beside the Dordogne River, some much-needed rest and recovery, and plenty of time to reflect on the journey so far as I make my way towards Plum Village.
This is Episode 7 of my 60th Birthday Bicycle Pilgrimage across Europe.
Thanks for coming along for the ride.
Jacquie

Hello everyone! Despite this video being very chatty, ๐ , I never did mention what was going on with my knee. Was it gout? Was it bursitis? The doctor never did call back, but the problem settled, and I had strong doubts that gout had anything to do with anything! Let's just say all is much much better. Thank you very much for all of your concern and your questions and your remedies. The cabbage wrapping one was particularly fabulous๐!
Thoroughly enjoying your travels, tres bon๐๐ฆ
A pastry day does sound fantastic doesnโt it, just my idea of heaven! Glad you outran the storm and found a camp safe to stay at for your first night.
14:47 are you blushing Jacquie ๐
I hope you enjoy plum village and I look forward to the next adventure. Especially the scenery ๐
Ngl.. the tick shot fear through my body.. got bit 20yrs ago in BC.. they didnโt seem to know as much back then.. I became very ill and now have chronic Lyme..guess what it really attacks on me.. joints. Iโm guessing the ticks are safe over there. Loving your awesome adventure ๐
The Pyrenees ๐๐๏ธ๐๏ธ
Have a wonderful retreat ๐
โค๐๐, thank you. There is nothing wrong with admiring a beautiful specimen of the human race. 60 is the age I decided, I had become past the age of inappropriate behavior. After sixty, in the USA, you are almost invisible… Have a great retreat. I'm looking forward to your videos after your retreat. Thank you again for taking us along on your journey. Blessings.
Totally forgot to give you a couple of cabbage leaves when we saw you ๐ Fabulous update. I'm getting nostalgic for the days we spent camping in hedges!
I just stumbled across your channel/video, Iโve subscribed so I can follow your travels, it looks like quite an adventure. I donโt think Iโd like doing wild camping though Iโm a 6โ boofy bloke, good on you for going for it. How do you access when/where is safe?
Well done lass ๐

Awesome adventures keep it up ๐
I am absolutely loving following along on your amazing journey. Iโm happy to hear that the knee is holding up and that you are nearing your destination. The Pyrenees sound like quite the challenge.
Itโs so good to see you smiling! I watch your adventures and find myself smiling so โthank youโ. So happy your knee has greatly improved; letโs hope it stays that way. Iโve always said, โexpect nothing and youโll never be disappointed โ. I have no doubt that you wonโt be disappointed. BTW, did you get new specs? They look fabulous! Enjoy your time at the village ; see you around the next bend. ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฃ๐พ
Ah man I really felt your pain when you were foodless! Youโre expending so much energy, I canโt imagine a day of riding fueled only on pastries! But you look radiant! I like how you said you felt this France in your bones. So good to see you in your element! ๐
You carry a stove, always carry a few freeze-dried meals for emergencies. like no food.

I'm back! I've now subscribed and watched from the beginning. La Rochelle is a beautiful town. Maybe another time!
This really is giving me suggestions on how to plan better for my trip. Despite what you say, you seem very organised on a magical mystery tour.
Loving the trip and I wish my filming was a patch on yours.
What drone do you use?
