Pogacar has never won against a non-recovering Jonas except for 2021 where Jonas was not the captain before stage 9, and after stage 9 Jonas only lost 20 seconds. 2026 could be even playfield just like 2022.
I'm not surprised, It's literally same story each year.. Either he or his team claims that Jonas is in best shape of his life, this happens before and during the TDF. Mind games already started in spring..
Maybe Jonas seems sad because is it getting total support from his wife, of course many wives would like their husband to be around, that's why they got married. But Jonas is the bread winner of the family and he is making tons of money, he is young enough to keep making millions for years to come. Many cyclists when they get into their 30's decide to retire. Jonas, keep cycling to make yourself happy with your love of the sport and yes someday retire knowing that you setup a good life for you and your family. Tadej is much more explosive than Jonas and when Tadej gets into his high paced rhythm he can go for km's.
If Jonas says he will beat Pogacar or hints at it, he absolutely will. This guy never just talks he is Danish he is so measured and honest its not a joke if he says he can win he probably will. For example if he says he knows the course quite well he will absolutely rail every corner he is so rediculously understated. But he has not really said that in this interview from what you saying. So he will simply be much closer to Pog and we may see the greatest rivalry ever in TDF this TDF coming down to accumulated bonus seconds the guy has a higher vo2max than Pog its stupid high he can also accelerate bloody well. He doesnt lie two times he beat Pog he basically said he was on good form when he lost to Pog he was always honest and not stating much about his shape. If he is confident be assured he will win TDF look at his demeanor when interviewed. It tells a tale. Listen carefully to what Jonas says. He is the best predictor. Also Visma uses x Factor and UAE is dumb as hell in tactics Jonas can win i say 60/40 Tad/Jonas
The problem for uae is that wout is also at top level form comoared to 2024 or 2025. You combine that with jonas being much better. I think it will be closer than people think.
Paul and Del toro at the tour is not a fair comparison. One is helping out the goat and can be sacrificed to at any moment. The other has a whole team behind him.
Anything can happen in cycling. Injury, illness, tactical mistakes, mechanicals the list goes on. That's why they pin a number on and line up at the start line.
Jonas has a very good chance of winning the tour. 1) JV has used the Giro as primarily solid build work. Never had to go to deep. 2) TP is not going with the team he had last year. 3) TP isn't dropping Jonas on the steeper climbs, above 10%+;that last over several Km. 4) The test of the GC contenders are going to throw in the towelidvweek 2band will mostly going for stage wins. Which will throw a big wrench into UAEs plans. 5) TP doing the Tour de Swiss 2 weeks before the tour could be a serious mistake -4 days of serious climbing.. Could be one of the best tours ever. And one more thing when the contenders are going for breakaway groups and summit wins I can't imagine Jonas will try to cover those moves. Visme will stall and force UAE to do the workl. And if TP gets isolated, alone with his rivals he could easily get cooked trying to cover all the moves. A team of rivals could put the hurt on Pogacar and then settle it amongst themselves. That's what cycling has always been. Working with the competition to beat them later
The real drama for Jonas is that no matter what he does, no matter the races he wins, as long as Tadej can beat him at the Tour, it will for ever be overshadowed… After this 2026, if no one is injured or hill and they go head to head, I'm worried that Tadej will win again (and quite frankly, I'd love for him to win) and Jonas knowing he will never win the Tour again, he looses the motivation for racing… Plus, even if Tadej decides after his 5th Tour that he has enough, his successor is surely among Seixas, Del Toro and maybe Lipowitz …
rabobank lisabike is a better team in every way compared to uae, except for money and of course doping–but rabobank lisabike is close in budget and their racing machine is working at absolute s-tier levels right now. they've been running the same plan against uae and pogacar at the tour for the last 4 years: it worked twice and failed twice, but they didn't change. this year the machine might be working well enough to win again.
We want Jonas to do well, we, the true bike racing fan, don't want to see an one-horse-race 2026 TDF, but Pogi almost always goes NUCLEAR on Jonas on GC stages. Let's see … Those who wish "I'm gone, I'm dead" to reappear, don't be stupid. Keep dreaming.
Let’s be fair here, there’s a lot of BIAS in these predictions. Jonas Vingegaard deserves respect as a 2 time Tour winner and we don’t know his current form. None of us do. Saying it will be a one sided race for Pogi is just speculation. It’s more realistic to expect a tight contest. If anything, this Tour looks like it could be very competitive between Jonas and Pogi.
Let Jonas have his minute of glory. Let him enjoy the moment. Come July the hammer is coming down HARD! And no, Jonas isnt going to win a single stage at this coming Tour.

Pogacar will beat Jonas by 5 mins, easy work
Jonas has 2 chances: Tadej gets injured or Tadej gets sick. Tadej at 95% or better is unbeatable currently.

Lol slipped up, 'im gone im dead'
