  1. Patrick Vs Benji GT picks

    Total scores after stage 20:
    Benji: 157 πŸ¦–
    Patrick: 170

Nil points today mean it's coming down to the last stage…..

    Breakdown:

    Benji Stage 20 picks
    Route release: Seixas 0 pts
    Week before: Vine 0 pts
    Day before: Rubio 0 pts
    Stage 20 score: 0

    Patrick Stage 20 picks
Route release: L. Martinez 0 pts
    Week before: Cepeda 0 pts
    Day before: Ciccone 0 pts
    Stage 20 score: 0

The final stage tomorrow. I'm very very excited…. not for the stage, but to see who wins this competition. I've been having an absolutely lovely Giro faffing around with my spreadsheet.

On to the picks…back in December Benji picked Groves, and Patrick picked Ganna. A likely nil points there.

In the week before pod, Patrick went for Groves, with Benji going for Milan. So Benji is the only one capable of scoring week before points, which are a maximum of 15. And with him only being behind 13 points then it's absolutely possible Benji can win, if Milan does. But Milan must come first, and Ganna must not finish in the top 3. Even Milan coming second would not give Benji the points he needs.

He's realised this in todays pod and has been therefore reluctantly forced to double down on Milan. Patrick's gone for Magnier.

But is a Milan win likely? Well Treks strategy of having a man 10kg lighter, and 20cm shorter than Milan, attempt to lead him out surprisingly hasn't gone so well for them. Who'd have thought it eh? On the other hand all things are possible. After all this sport can be summed up in two words; "you never know."

The only thing I can say for certain is that it is mathematically impossible for this to end in a draw. Someone will be wearing a Dino suit, but is it being delivered to Andorra or the UK?….It's in the hands of Jonathan Milan.

  2. I pulled the trigger on Join at 50%. I’m happy with the discount for the year. Excited for the Join opportunity. My first week’s lesson, I was seriously over training.

  3. Let's enjoy all the riders .there will always be someone in front for a few years .in all sports .cycling ,MotoGP .F1 me football 🀷 . Enjoy it all ❀🚴🍺

  4. Patrick said it. Breakaways don’t happen anymore. This time it’s Visma, next time it’s UAE. In any case it’s boring.

  5. Benji was wrong with his kom maths . ciccone was further ahead than 44 points .. Jonas needs to win AND be 4th or better first pass

  6. If you dont enjoy someone freaking dominating it , I dont know why you watch cycling. There is nothing more boring than 4-8 riders that cannot really drop eachother other than on the final sprint at the line.

  7. Join cycling discount storyline played out optimally for join πŸ˜‚ max GC gap is only attained at literally the last possible moment

  8. The " FONZ" was the saviour of the Giro. Gave up on watching live in favour of the highlights reel and Patrick and Benji's recap. β€οΈπŸš΄πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

  9. Patrick's epic deflation when my friend BenuΓ‘ won Boucles says so much about the general trend of this podcast. It's ok to have biases. We all have. But you also need a bit of self-reflection and Benji's tired neutral spectator gimmick is not enough to get around that. I hope you compare your coverage here with Giro 2024 (which was a far less dominant edition, by the way: no domestique winning a stage or top ten the race, no fight for any other jersey, real struggle to bring back large breakaways in several stages, etc) and many other Pog/MVDP races from then on, where it's all about boredom, predictability and general lack of interest. You can't have it both ways. Sorry if this sounds a bit harsh. If I took the time to write this comment is only because I'm a long time viewer and I still believe you guys do the best english-speaking cycling analysis. And, as a Movistar stan, I really appreciate you fight back media prejudices about our unfortunate team. Cheers.

  10. I quite liked this Giro, not sure why you guys didn’t. Interesting battle for the podium, white jersey in play, mountain jersey decided on last mountain stage.

I know finding the winner wasn’t that exciting, but outside that it’s been great and Italy is just beautiful.
