As a mountain-biker living in Swindon it occurred to me that despite it being widely regarded as a bit of a shit-hole there are some really lovely areas to ride in and around the town.

In this video I show you some of the places I ride when I’m not at a trail centre and let you decide – is Swindon a shit-hole or not??

  1. Excellent video, great use of over dub. The Swindon Tourist board should use it, along with the slogan "It's not quite as Sh1te as you think". Apparently Sam Pilgrim is coming to do all those Stair Sets Of Doom!!……

  2. An interesting insight into Swindon cycle routes. As a Swindon cyclist myself you have done your best to hang together the best the town has to offer. There are many urban routes around a 20 miles circular route which in you can alter each time you ride. There is a lot about Swindon not to like and one of them is the Town Centre the Country Park are nice places to visit.

  3. The railway line in Mauldon hill is a continuation of the line from old town as it went along the top of mannington rec along towards Highworth and past Moredon power station which of course is longer there

  4. I note you are avoiding Swindon. The oasis had a wave machine didn't it, and wasn't it the inspiration for a little known support group tagging behind the Inspiral Carpets back in the day?

  5. Nice video I have moved here a few years ago and im still finding my way about with this video has given me a few ideas. Mitchel cycles is a great shop I have used them a lot and I live just around the corner from them which is handy

  6. Thank you for recommending the bike shop. I had added it to Google Maps as a destination, but I was hesitant, and when I heard your advice, I felt reassured. 🩢🚴
