  1. Les gens qui disent" c'est juste certains quartiers, et il n'y a rien touristique là" devraient faire attention, c'est comme ça qu'on a commencé en Amérique Latine.

  2. That was a ridiculous travel advice from an official. “Dont put anything to your car, dont carry valuable items cause somebody might snitch it.” What??? You cant mitigate the crimes happening to the city and expect people to visit. He said there are like this in Germany? Where? No part of Germany runs by gangs.

  3. Worked there for almost a year at the only tower around(you know which one..)
While I love the food and weather, and work sometimes😅 I do must point that occasionally I do get racist remarks, but overall if you speak french and you lay low and humble, you’ll be fine.
Oh and I’m south east asian chinese.

  4. The documentary is not filming the real people there. The images are very very selective. 90% from the people filmed are europeans. But this is not true at all! I visited Marseille counteless time. Of course, the video is a touristic promotion.

  5. I lived in Marseille for 3 and half years. I wandered at night a lot. I used to comeback home walking with my wife from the center city to the south. Nothing ever happened to us. The only thing I have heard from friends was a girl who was walking alone and some guys insisted to chat with her. This is a bad thing and I was very sad to know that this happens in Marseille. However, very unfortunately, this happens pretty much everywhere, with rare exceptions. Therefore, I would warn solo females travellers to take care and avoid empty streets. If you are in crowded places, or not alone, I am sure everything is fine. The north of the city might be dangerous, but there is no reason to go there. Except by these warnings, Marseille is a phenomenal place for me and I am planning to move back there. I have been in the main cities in Europe, but nothing can beat Marseille for me. Completely underrated city.

  6. Why is it dangerous? Because of the same demographic that makes every other city dangerous. There are just more in Marseille, and that's why it's more dangerous.

  7. I'm a Kiwi-Australian who has lived in Marseille for 8 years. This is a city that somehow seeps into one's bones, with her organised chaos that becomes a welcome sense of liberty. One can be whoever one wants to be in Marseille. I think of her in terms of the 80:20 rule – 80% of the time I love her and all her vibrant Mediterranean-ness and 20% of the time I hate her for her rubbish and incivilty. She is never boring, one can certainly say that! We are soon moving on and I sure will miss Mareille. I am proud to have called her home and will forever hold a soft spot in my heart for this wonderfeul city.

  8. racists people in the comments are just proving to us why they are so stupid once again. They never visited the city but will try to make you believe they did and then, they will just say the most stupid things they've read online from other racists haha.

Marseille is safe for tourists, there're just no reason you would end up in a non-safe area because… they are far away from everything and there is nothing to see there… Its just like if you would visit NYC and you would go to some sketchy area in the bronx… why? or you would go to Grigny if you visit Paris, that makes no sense.

  9. All the comments here ”it’s not safe in some areas”… oh really? Like every moderate/big city or also in smaller cities there are bad areas and why would you go there on a vacation? If you leave your purse etc to be taken, yes, you can lose it but that can happen everywhere. I’m Finnish and I live in Helsinki. Even you often hear that Finland or Helsinki is a safe place that kind of burglary can happen here too. Also in Helsinki when you are going out of the center (~7km) there are some dodgy areas where you can feel unsafe. Trying to say that even Helsinki is not as big as London, Berlin, Paris, Marseille etc you can still feel unsafe here like in any other city.

  10. I lived in Marseille for almost 5 years. Currently living in Paris since one year and trust me after living here for one year I just want to go back to Marseille. Beautiful beaches, sun , sea, climate, less expensive, easy connectivity with people, less commute time and so much more.

  11. Can we get a video from the perspective of Black travellers? Not everyone is a yt person irrationality scared about Black or Arab people in Marseille
