ben – sick bike! Can I offer a video suggestion? Youtube is a great place to get people out of their cars and into gravel Bike. While we would all like a FARA (or Canyon) for a first Gravel Bike, it's more affordable and better for the bike service industry (ie bike shop mechanics in local towns) if there was a way to turn low financial risk 1990's MTB into beginner mountain bikes.
You are a gravel bike expert, Ben. Can you turn a craiglist/marketplace 90's MTB into a Gravel Bike?
Most Pros in YouTube do metal work to install disk brakes and install 650c wheels.
The average joe can't and aint going to do that.
Can you find and recommend 26" tires, derailluer upgrade (maybe Shimano Cues 9-sp?), bars, etc without any metal shop. Just a component swap?

I raced valley of tears this year on my newly converted Trek Supercaliber with drop bars with 2.25 thunder Burts and it was perfect. SO much sand plus the technical Caprock State Park. Perfect bike setup.
