I can easily put the entire rim through the tire and have 5cm of space left. Seems there's no way can this be beaded inside that rim. Changed dozens of tires over the years and never seen such a mismatch, is there some secret alternative sizing standard? The rims are 100% definitely correctly labelled, put many 26 inch tires on them before with no problem.

I understand fakes exist for almost anything these days, and can imagine fakes with a worse quality compound, but why would someone make a fake that is the wrong size? I don't assume they can stretch out even when hung up for years, since they have a metal bead.

Current plan is to return them, but asking here just in case there's something that can be done.

Bought these "26 inch" tires for my 26 inch rim from a reputable shop. They seem way too big, is there something I'm missing?

  1. They’re not the same 26″, the tire is made for 590mm internal diameter and the rim is 559mm.

    🤷🏻‍♂️

    That’s tire sizing for ya.

It appears they have given you 26 x 1 3/8 not a 26 inch tyre. There are old imperial and metric sizes. Use the 5 digit etrto number. For 26 inch the last three digits after the dash should be 559. I’m sure they will swap it. Easy mistake to make when you’re in a rush grabbing tyres.
