In 1975, Indian artist PK Mahanandia met Swedish tourist Charlotte Von Schedvin while sketching portraits on the streets of Delhi. Despite coming from completely different backgrounds, they fell deeply in love.
After marrying in India, Charlotte returned to Sweden, and PK promised he would follow her. But without money for a flight, he sold his belongings, bought a second-hand bicycle, and began an extraordinary 11,000-kilometer journey across countries like Afghanistan, Iran, and Turkey.
For nearly four months, he survived by drawing portraits in exchange for food and shelter — all for love.
When he finally reached Sweden, Charlotte was waiting for him. Their incredible story remains one of the most inspiring real-life love stories ever told.
“I was cycling for love.” ❤️
