Hi everyone, I’m thinking about buying my first gravel bike and I found a Canyon Grail CF 8 1by on sale for €2299 instead of €2999, but the discount expires today.
I’m pretty new to gravel, so I’m trying to understand whether this is actually a great deal or if it would make more sense to wait, especially since I’ve read that the Grail lineup was updated recently and I don’t want to buy at the wrong time.
My other question is about accessories: is this version also compatible with the larger Grail-specific bags/accessories, or are there limitations depending on the model? Canyon says the LOAD FidLock QuickLoader works with Gen 2 Grail bikes, but I’m not fully sure how far that compatibility goes.
Do you think this is a good buy for a first gravel bike, or would you look at something else?

I bought the normal CF7 about 4 months ago, and I loooove the bike. It is also my first gravel bike (were cruising on an old race bike before that) and I love everything about it.
I kinda miss the storage compartment in the frame, my version doesn’t have it.
Idk the tyre clearance is pretty bad in the big 26
a person can wait forever if waiting for the better deal or the latest and greatest..no better time to jump in the game than now.
My girlfriend bought it. The bag fits very well, but is also small.
A new Grail is due to come out, and notably it’ll have wider tyre clearance. You can see videos and images if you search this sub. The current model is perfectly good, if you don’t need big tyres.
I bought the Grail 1by SLX 8 with Rift and love it!
This is a great deal. Go for it. I also bought a Grail CF7 now.
