What does it feel like to ride a bike when you can’t see the road?
I spent the day with the Bury Tandem Club — a group of visually impaired and blind cyclists who refused to stop riding. This incredible club makes it possible so I went along on their club ride to experience it all. Prepare yourself to be inspired! ♥️

  1. Katie I've enjoyed your videos for a while. This was your best video. How inspiring. Made me want to start this where I live. Also enjoyed that home in Thailand. Keep stories like this coming.

  2. Thanks Katie for joining us. If anyone here sighted or not wants to join us or any of the other clubs up and down the country please find a club. It really is great fun. No tandem experience is required.

  3. It's marvellous that these fellows can still enjoy the pleasure of movement, the feel of the sun and the wind on their faces, and, above all, the company of real friends. Thank you Katie, what a story.

  4. In the cycling space we often debate "What is the spirit of gravel – or cycling?" and stuff like this. To me, THIS is it. Coming together, helping each other out, enjoying the road and having fun.

Thank you Katie for yet an another amazing video. You are certainly one of my top favorite channels of all time. Thank you for taking us with you. ❤

  5. Great video. Exercise and social contact are great for mental health. Feeling the air and sun on your face. Hearing the spring birds. Stopping at a cafe or some nice food. Some great sense of humour! Tandems seem fun, almost half the weight of bike ultimate drafting built in.

  6. Following my "corrective" eye-surgery (3 effing procedures instead of one, going for a 4th) I was gifted double vision. I can still see when looking straight forward, but any deviation makes it really awkward. With that said, I can't even begin to imagine what the blind experience. These people are amazing. And the ones leading are an example of pure humanity. Thank you for showing this Katie.

  7. Hi Katie great video , I'm sure I came across these guys back in the 80s when I was a fit 40 something it took me a couple of miles to catch them up they were really motoring 👍

  8. My brother is blind, his preference is to run marathons and ultra running but he has a tandem. The only problem he has is that he struggles to find a pilot so the bike sits in the shed most of the time.

  9. Bloody hell. I'm a mess at the end of this. If you have all your faculties and ever get pissed off with life (we all do), take another look at this, then get on your bike and cheer up. What an inspiration these people are.
