Just a mom trying to pick the perfect budget-friendly intro mtb for her 13 year old son. These seem to tick all my spec boxes more or less and pass his color/aesthetic guidelines 😵💫 but I just have decision fatigue at this point. Feedback? Opinions?

Look for a used or close out Specialized Chisel
A trek marlin may be the best bike that I would never recommend to someone, it’s good bike with quality parts but you can find its limit pretty fast and end up wishing for more with little upgrade potential
make sure the seat is wide enough
I got a budget one recently for my daughter and her fat ass couldn’t fit comfortably on it
Get something with a dropper post
I got the talon 2 yesterday from public lands for 20% off. Liking it so far.
The giant because it’s up to spec. Thru axle hubs front and rear. That’ll provide you with a solid foundation to upgrade if you choose. Also thru axle hubs are superior than quick release skewer like the other two options
Since that are all similar price I’d break the tie with whichever I’ve had the most potential for upgrade /repair. Boost spacing, through Axel v qr, tapered head tube etc. if that’s still a wash split hairs with head tube angle and travel to whatever leans in the direction you think will suit you best.
