I bought it used last summer and I’m only selling as it’s a bit big on me! The only thing I’ve changed is that I swapped the original tires for these bigger ones. Overall it’s a great bike and if it fit me I’d keep it. I was just wondering how much I can sell it for that’s fair for the buyer but to also maybe make some money back on my original purchase.

  1. Bought it used or new last summmer? If used can’t hurt to try a little above what you paid for it and be willing to accept prices close to what you paid.

You can look up book value but if you bought it used last year you already know the local market for this bike better than we do.

I would give you $300 or $350 but that’s just one data point.

My thoughts are that you have a nice version of a LHT, and that considering the new tires, and overall condition/rendition you’re looking at a $1,200 listing if you live in or near a city, with the knowledge that you’ll probably sell for $800-1000 because listing price and sale price are vastly different on CL/FBM

Bottom spec, previous gen, non-disc trucker, with garbage wheels, in well-loved condition, I’d say you are looking at about $600-800 in a good market.

It’s a good bike, it should sell for this price, but anything above $800 is purely aspirational.

These things hold their value like crazy because of the surly name. List it for whatever you paid for it a year ago and it’ll probably sell easily

rim brake bikes that aren’t italian rarely *sell for* more than $400 in my area regardless of their *asking price*.

    Surlys & Crusts aren’t excluded.

Don’t listen to the crackheads. $1000-$1200. They don’t make these and people want them. Clean it up and get paid dog.

If it was local to me and I absolutely need this I’d grab for $600 in a heart beat, $800 I might second guess myself but do it anyways.

That’s an awesome looking build, the sage green/pale blue/grey with silver components is solid. Whoever built this for sure took a lot of time on the aesthetics of it. The tanwall tires make it look so classy paired with the polished silver finishing kit. I don’t even mind the cantilever brakes, you still have a ton of clearance with them.

I’d buy this for $1000 any day to be honest. Surly makes some awesome bikes and there’s a fantastic market for them. Anyone who is saying $400 or lower has absolutely zero idea what this is.

I would thoroughly clean that drivetrain and polish the cranks, give the frame a nice wash. Buyers like seeing a clean bike. A clean drivetrain is an automatic indicator for me that the person took care of their bike.

  10. I wouldn’t sell a surley, it will never garner what it’s truly worth and these bikes are beasts
