Even factoring in the polish, that frame looks amazing. Getting it for free is just absolutely amazing on top of that!
Keep it stock or upgrade stuff like the interface and drivetrain and it’ll be an amazing bike for you.
That looks brand new. Many will be very jealous. Great bike, enjoy it. I’m sure it’ll take you all kinds of new places.

It’s gorgeous! It doesn’t look like it really needs much, which will allow you to customize it to your liking (at least that’s how my brain works). Making it a comfortable ride (handlebars, stem, grips, saddle) might be your first steps.

Looks like a 19.5″ (ish) 1993 (ish) Rockhopper with Deore LX parts. A major win for you, sir. Would recommend taking that lock off the frame before it damages that beautiful paint!!
