Currently doing the Camino del Norte through a heat wave in northern Spain (got to 31C where i was today).
As I got towards the top of a climb on a fairly remote highway, I heard some crying from the bushes next to the road that sounded like a cat. I did a 180 and went to see what it was, and it was a kitten stuck by itself in a bunch of thorny bushes. The poor baby had gunk all over his eyes which made it totally blind.
I managed to open up a hole in the bush and get him out, cleaned up the gunk with a napkin, and then brought him down to the next town in my front bag.
There was no vet, but they had a zoo so I tried taking him there, but they couldn't do anything for me. They recommended I go to the police so I tried that, but they couldn't do anything either. The kitten was super stressed and not making it easy to transport him in the bike, so I wasn't sure it'd be possible to make it to the closest vet which was 15km away.
I finally started asking around and stumbled across a lady that fosters cats and dogs, who gladly took him with her.
Overall a pretty exciting side quest on an otherwise boring day!

Good work! 👍
You did the right thing. Animals helping eachother out is the way.
