      I am glad you are not injured any worse! That would absolutely be a very serious brain injury, certainly a skull fracture at least.

      I wish we could post pictures in the comments on this subreddit! I have a similar pic, though not nearly as severe as yours. I actually have not been mountain biking since my accident. I’m so nervous that it makes me worse. I switched over to gravel biking. I definitely won’t mountain bike without a full face helmet again.

      Drop off the helmet at your LBS. Good shops have a trophy case to show to newbies when they hesitate about buying a bucket.

      It’s funny, when I rode BMX as a teen you’d never see me with a helmet. Now you won’t catch me without one

      How does your neck feel? I face planted a couple days ago and my neck is super stiff. Luckily full face helm so only my neck hurts

      My helmet was split in 2 when I was run over by a truck. I have a TBI and various other injuries but my helmet absolutely saved my life. I can relate to your appreciation for these critical items. Cheers and I hope your recovery is quicker than mine is going.

      Wow, that’s a huge slam. Any idea how fast you were going?

      I’ll suggest taking creatine, changed my concussion recovery completely.

      I’m so glad that in most sports we’ve move in the direction of not using safety equipment being cringe or hallmarks of a noob/ poser 😂

      Glad your not hurt any worse, still don’t sound great but glad your still here!!

      I’m new to this & I wouldn’t even get on my bike with it one!! It’s amazing how much I got made fun of when I said I wasn’t riding till I got a helmet. I’ve got 2 now, went to go ride & forgot mine and home so I just went & bought another one😂
