Might want to remove the hinge clamps, if you haven’t already and put big fragile stickers on the outside, although sometimes that makes some individuals treat stuff worse, so maybe not!

Hard to tell, does the case have any padding at all? I would probably still cut up some pool noodles or cardboard to act as a crumple zone. Just putting the bike in a hard case doesn’t offer that much more protection. The bike is still sliding around and bashing up against a hard surface.
