My school is different because in my school we have the G-Zweig(Gymnasyum)and the K-Zweig(Real-;Haupt and Gesamtschule)and like we have the Forscherclass were students learn more chemistry.And there are normal classes like were you have the normal subjects.And there are some classes that are called:‘Orchesterclass‘.I‘m in a Orchestra class and we learn like an instrument(Tromebone,Euphonium,Flute,Klarinette,Saxophone or Trompet)i‘m playing the trombone 😊and we don’t have the subjects like art(Kunst)or Textil or Werken.And onece or twice a week we have orchestra class and learn different songs.And onece a week(wednesday or friday)we have instruments class were we practice in our instrument groups with our instruments teacher.
Oh boy this took me sooooo long 🥲😂❤ And our classes are called 8K or 8G (as an example 😊)and on the K-Zweig it goes to d(Ka,Kb,Kc or Kd)and on the G-Zweig it goes to e(Ga,Gb,Gc,Gd or Ge)and the orchestra classes are the a‘s(sometimes the b‘s)and the Forscherclasses are the c‘s(the rest is normal.And like i‘m in an orchestra with the Ka and the Ga(one of them is my class but i won’t tell you 😌)
And it's not like deciding for your whole life. You can still go the "second educationsal way" (zweiter Bildungsweg) which will give you the opportunity to get for instance a gymnasium degree (Abitur). Beside the "Berufskollege" you can go to the Technical Gymnasium (TG), an informatic orientied Gymasium (ITG), a Economics oriented Gymasnium (Wirtschafts Gymnasium / WG) and a couple of others specialist gymnasiums. Those will give you the opportunity to get a subject bound abitur or a full abitur if you have a good enough "Mittlere Reife" which means you graduated good enough from Realschule. And of cause if you are good enough or worse you can be transfered between Gymnasium, Realschule and Hauptschule too inbetween. (this is very rarely done so…)
In Baden Württemberg there is a test hier the Test is explained. 1.Parental and Teacher Agreement:
If you and your parents agree that you should go to a Gymnasium, and your teacher also recommends Gymnasium based on your performance, no test is required. You can directly enroll in Gymnasium.
2. Disagreement Between Parents and Teacher:
If you and your parents want Gymnasium, but your teacher recommends a different school type (e.g., Realschule or Hauptschule), you must take a test (usually called the "Aufnahmeprüfung").
The outcome of this test determines your path:
If you pass the test, you are allowed to go to Gymnasium.
If you fail the test, you must attend the school type recommended by the teacher, such as Realschule.
This system aims to balance the assessment of a student's abilities by both parents and teachers while offering the student a chance to prove themselves through the test if there is disagreement. The test is new
Btw In 9 grade there is also a selection (basically depend on which overall grade you get)
Basically there are 2 path for you and one is Berufsreife (it mean you did not reach a grade requirement to make it to 10 grade so therefore you get this path) 10 grade path (congratulations on reaching the requirement)
Ridiculous system! I know so many who were average in primary and middle school but caught up and were really brilliant students in high school. And of course vice versa.
