An interesting thing is how few bikes they actually made, like 300 I believe. That was in the time when bicycles were actually quite expensive, really only for upper middle class and above. Which enabled the wrights to live a good middle class lifestyle.
What drove them out of it is when the process of consolidation and mass production ramped up, the pope bicycle patent monopoly royalties were busted up, and small manufacturers like them couldn’t compete anymore. So they looked for something else to do and ended up in aviation.
