What polishing system are you using? Any polishing system will first make it dull before bringing it back up to a shine.
By the way, those Sweetspots make GREAT full suspension single speeds.

What method are you using to polish the frame. It looks like you are using sandpaper. There might be a clear coat on that rear end, so you would be taking off that layer of clear. If it is bare aluminum, then you can use an alloy polish like Mother’s alloy wheel polish. If you go that route, then a Dremel with a polishing wheel will make your life much easier. To digress a little bit; if you’ve sanded bare aluminum, then you will want to remedy that with increasingly finer grain of sandpaper to get back to a polished finish. I hope this helps.

Usually last step would be buffing compound with a polish wheel
Completely by hand would take a lot of elbow

There was clear cost on the aluminum. You sanded/polished through that. I would probably strip the rest, polish to the desired hone, and spray a light coat of lacquer over the whole thing. Not a quick job, for sure.

This is just polished aluminum, no clear coat. I have a Homegrown myself. You should be using Simichrome Polish and a rag. That’s all you need.

I always thought these old 90s Schwinn URT bikes looked cool.
