Hi folks! Looking to start biking to daycare with my toddler around when he turns 1yo (2mo). I already have his helmet (Giro Scamp MIPS) but am stuck deciding between child Seats.
I'm between the Thule Yepp Maxi or the Burly Dash, both rack mount. I saw at least one article (https://www.twowheelingtots.com/best-child-bike-seats/) claiming that the Thule buckle is easier for escape artists to unclip. On the flip side, I'm kinda worried that the burly's backrest is bith too short and not well ventilated for a SoCal summer heat (pickup is at 4pm)
Anyone out there with experience on either?

what about a Burley kid trailer keeping the kid in the shade and room for storage?
At that age id recommend a seat that can recline as they so often drop off on the bike.
I liked [the hamax siesta so much we got two,](https://www.reddit.com/r/xbiking/comments/1e5sfoa/it_would_seem_ive_been_dadpacking_unawares_for/) it has a dial you turn to recline your passenger when they nap. i dont think they make that model anymore though.
Id also recommend the ursus jumbo kick stand which can hold 80kg, meaning you can take your kid on and out the seat without precariously balancing the bike.
A decent sized front basket like a wald 1392 is also good to stash your backpack as its right in your kids face otherwise. Also helps stop your back from getting sweaty.
I’ve got the Yepp Maxi and it’s been fantastic. It’s very comfortable for the kids, and my daughter is someone who I would classify as an escape artist, but she’s never managed (or really even tried) to get out of the seat. We’ve done 25+ mile rides together with her in the seat.
I have a Burley trailer, too, for when I want to take both of my kids out at the same time, or if it’s a particularly sunny day to give them a little extra shade.
I picked up the Thule seat for about $75 second-hand, and the Burley was a freebie from a neighbor. If you can get both without breaking the bank and you have storage for both, I recommend getting both. Different use cases, but two great options.
