Police in Sunderland, England, released footage showing the moments before and after a fatal hit-and-run collision involving an illegal e-bike and a pedestrian in May 2025.
The Northumbria Police released this footage, along with a press release. The video clips show Billy Stokoe, who was 18 at the time of the collision, driving “dangerously” around Sunderland before hitting and killing 86-year-old Gloria Stephenson as she stepped into a crosswalk while walking her daughter’s dog.

These situations are getting way out of control all over the world.
It's about time to take those e-bikes and e-scooters off the street and parks. You don't hear them coming cuz they're quiet. They run at speeds of 30 miles an hour and of course they're always going fast. I was at a park and when to the park ranger to complain that they had dirt road motorcycles jumping off a little Hill. They had e- scooters and e-bicycles zooming where pedestrians walk. It clearly states that pedestrian pathways are for people on foot not for motor vehicles, electrical or gasoline propelled going at 30 mph. But the park ranger, and some off-duty cop that didn't see anything and didn't give a hoot that the kids ran into me with their e- scooter. Telling me that they were allowed on pedestrian walkway.IIt could have been a lot worse. Next thing I know I'm being attacked at the park by three people (the two kids and an off-duty cop) I'm the victim yet I'm the one that's going to go to jail. I walked and left them yelling and being in the wrong. Walkways are for pedestrian on foot. It's not for e-scooters it's not for e-bikes it's not for motorcycles. They need to put a stop on these stupid things so no other person can be killed or hurt. Oh by the way an e-bike is not Street legal and it's also not legal to ride it in the park.
Solution is to give e-bikes a sound and not get it off

I think this is a bit unjust there's a lamppost obscuring vision for the crosser, also she may have believed it was a normal bicycle and slower.
Thanks to this idiot, high powered e bikes will never be legaslised. rip wo the lady, glad the dog is ok.
WOW that's sad, hit a run that's bad people are out of control nowadays, I hope the person who were hit by the biker is doing okay.
