The headwinds in Portugal are no joke! Day 68 threw everything at me – crazy inclines, brutal coastal winds, and some terrifyingly busy roads. After a lovely morning exploring the stunning cliffs of Peniche and a surprise reunion with my amazing Warm Showers hosts, the real battle began as I pushed south through the historic Estremadura region toward Ericeira.

From steep climbs that forced me off the asphalt to finding a stealth camping spot among the campervans on the cliffs, this was one of the toughest days on the bike yet.

  1. I’d be grumpy too if it was raining, wind blowing straight at me and other unexpected incidents. No worries! Enjoy your night on the beach. 😊🏖️⛺️

  2. That road into Ericeira gets really busy with traffic usually avoid in the warmer beach months
You were unlucky with a headwind
Usually blows from the north most of the year
