You know Sweden also have a lot of "windmills", I think what you referring to is wind turbines generating green and cheap electricity. This are the kind of inovations keeping the Swedish economy growing. We have by the way been a capitalist country all the time post ww2. We just have a strong social welfare system so everyone get education and healthcare. The government have not changed that now. It's like you are sitting there man guessing things. Sweden has been a capitalist nation, but also includes a socialist value system. It knows how to balance the 2. It cannot work in the states for a few reasons like curruption, over taxing with very little shown for it and other stuff. It's hard to explain to American leftists cause they are too enamored and delusional with what they believe Sweden should be. Sweden has been sheding away the socialist system they once invested in since the early 1990s. Things have been more noticeable the past 10-12 years. Even immigration has gotten tougher since the flood of immigrants of 2015/17.

You are citing Sweden’s public spending at 25% of GDP as if it is some damning indictment of the current right wing government, but that number is from 2022, the last year of the centre left government. The right wing only took office in October 2022. Basic fact checking, guys.
And yes, spending is going up now, but that is because of defence. Which is the right call given the geopolitical situation. That is not big government socialism, that is rearmament. Completely different conversation.
I am centre right. I believe in markets, capitalism, limited state. But this kind of sloppy, agenda driven reporting does not serve anyone, not even conservatives. It just makes us look bad.
The worst part? Millions of Americans are getting their world view shaped by this. Sweden is a complex, fascinating economic case that deserves serious analysis. This is not even close.

Sweden have a mixed economy. We have had both social democrats and morf conservative governmentz thru the years. In the last decades there have been some privatizations.
Recently we have got lower food tax.

Nice to hear about your own country! The government consumption (employees, offices, energy, etc) is about 24% but the total spending (including welfare and pensions, etc.) is almost 50% of GDP. US in this comparison has a spending of 38% of GDP. So the cost of the administration in Us and Sweden is similar, where the US allocates more to the military and Sweden to other areas. Adding all the welfare on top shows a clear difference between the US and Sweden.
But it is true that taxes have been cut and they are coming down from a high level. Income taxes are high for high earners but capital gains taxes are much more favorable.

From what I understand UKs North Sea Oil is neither that much and nor easy to access, Tatcher and Major ran pretty hard on it, and what is left is a bit costly to take up. The later problem is similar tho what I think is also the case with oil in Texas, the price need can't go too low because then it is a loss to pump it, despite the oil industry in USA recieve fairly substantial federal subsides.

These guys think this happened in a few years. In 1989 taxes in Sweden was 49% of GDP. Now they are 41% of GDP. It was both socialists and right wing goverments in Sweden working on the Swedish economy to get it working for over 30 years. US taxes is only 26% of GDP.
