What a great way to spend your birthday – riding a new trail!
I’ve really enjoyed riding Squirrel Chaser since it opened last spring, but it was lacking something – the feel of doing an actual loop. I used to session the first part before crossing the stream, doing the bridleway and pleasant but uninteresting fire road before dropping into OddSox. The new section isn’t actually world shattering, but it does seem to ass more than its parts by making a circuit. The first part is easy with very few features, but the last bit which I have included in the edit is a lot more fun, with lots of rollers, a drop and jump into a berm. You can climb back up to do it again, and it looks like there are a couple of access points to session it without having to go all the way to the end.
Thanks to Hamsterley TailBlazers and Forestry England for continuing to improve the trail network – I am really looking forward to the new 5 Lane Ends section when that opens.
Filmed on GoPro Hero 7 Black and DJI Neo 2. The bike is a Scott Patron 920 from Wetrocknride in Hartlepool.

Here's the latest update at Hamsterley – an addition to the blue loop. It's an improvement, even if the trail isn't that special it does make a big difference in completing the loop. Enjoy!!
Happy Birthday
All the best, Bob. Hope you had a good one, and you certainly broke your PB on Squirrel Chaser. Thanks for the ride, Bob

Happy birthday bob!
Nice video Bob. I didn't know there was a new blue trail there. Or that there was a blue section to Odd Sox
Happy Birthday Bob!
Was there yesterday. New to mountain biking. Might try that short black this summer 🤔
