  1. Possibly. I watched a [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtc8TftZYFM) a while back of a guy who repurposed a US mail electric cargo bike (similar to that) into a railway electric bike for doing trips with.

The big downside of trying to tour with something like that is power. It’s a beefy motor to move that much weight, which means a lot of power usage.

I hope that these get banned for being, as the commenter notes, a “loopholemobile.” Then perhaps honest souls can acquire these on the cheap and enjoy some touring options.

I would bet Amazon’s finance bros and lawyers argue this -should- use the bike lane, doesn’t need a registration, doesn’t need insurance, and doesn’t require a license for the driver. Of course, touring with that monster is not necessarily an improvement in these things, but at least it’s out of the hands of a corporation (a corporation is a kind of sociopath and while we can say many things about cyclotourists, -most- are not sociopaths).

But think of the practicalities beyond the power needs, making it hard to fully charge (prolly charges like a full EV). You can’t practically use many bike paths (narrow paths, low clearances), you can’t ride it like a bicycle on roads because it’s so wide, and so on. But yeah, carry everything you want and even sleep inside the cargo hold! Put skylights on that bad girl!

Someone should explain to them what the “bi” in bicycle stands for.
