Hi guys

First trip was a success! Legs are sore of course but all in all I had a good time and nothing went completely wrong! However I’ve learned that comfort is everything. I’ll be investing in some new bars, and a brooks leather saddle definitely.

However – I’m looking to upgrade my tent and sleeping pad. My tent was absolutely tiny for me, couldn’t move, and it’s not worth it for how heavy it is. Sleeping mat also went flat almost immediately, so that’s a shame.

So I’m looking for reccomendations. I’ve got my eye on a cloud up 1 or 2 for tent, but sleeping mat no idea. Ideally don’t want to be spending a fortune either..

  1. Highly recommend looking around for used items to save! I like FB marketplace as well as subreddits like r/geartrade and r/ulgeartrade. You do have to check regularly but I’ve been able to snag 3 person tents that weigh less than 4 lb for $40 USD and a Sea to Summit sleeping pad for $60, for example.

  2. Comfort is also extremely subjective. Do you need thick padding, what shape of chambers works best for you, is a mummy shape alright for you? And many more questions it makes sense to buy something like this in a store where you can lay down and try things out
