What starts as a trip to celebrate a friend finishing medical school turns into 1,500km of cycling across Germany and Poland.

From Bonn, my friend Jackson joined me for the first leg to Berlin. We stopped at lakes, slept in a monastery, rode through a storm, and arrived at a hotel that turned out not to exist.

From Berlin, Hanna joined me for the second leg toward Toruń. We camped by a lake, stopped for pieroggi, rode through some genuinely rural parts of Poland, and stayed in a lovely homestay in the middle of nowhere.

She took the train back and I still had nearly 400km to go. So I got impatient and rode 270km on the last day.

Route planning, packing, gear setup, and everything that happened along the way. This is the full story.

  1. You also have ridden with a large saddle back (like Jackson) in the past right? How do you feel does a large saddle bag compare to double sided paniers like in the video? Is it a lot of disadvantage in aerodynamics like so many people say?

Edit: Also, nice new channel profile picture!
