Been a mountain biker for years, and in the past few years I’ve been intrigued in buying an older 80s/90s atb to tinker with and ride around town. Picked up this Ross Mt Hood for $300 from a guy who restores these old beauty’s. Rides fantastic. Little cracking paint on the top tube but adds some character.

where I live $300 for any clean, ready-to-ride bike is a good deal. So, it’s a “hell yeah” for me. This is a sick ride.
I used to have one of these. They rode like you were sitting on a couch. Very comfy. Also very heavy. They’re pretty cool, though. Made in Pennsylvania! (My home state).
Ukai 26×2.25 w/ the original snake bellies is insane.
Mmmmm….Ishiwata
This is a classic in my book. It’s a tank. Black and gold is always a winning combo and the lugged fork is an iconic look. Oftentimes the gold is a lot more faded on these. That plus the condition of the dork disk make me think it’s barely been ridden. I wouldn’t change much. A gold chain would really finish off the look.
Damn that’s too pretty to ride almost
With the gold hubs and rims???? A GEM
I think the rear tire is mounted backwards
License on the seat tube and OP handle match.

Bikes from this era are amazing riders, this is me racing my 1982 Cyclepro Skyline
That’s a lot for what was basically a department store level bike but it does look pretty slick.
Too good. And I’m really diggin the bench.
Ross Check
Hell yeah! This is awesome!
It’s like the bike version of a fuckin tracksuit, 10/10 no notes
I have a Raleigh Detour that looks real similar to yours. When I have the time I do 22 Miles a day on the Eureka waterfront. Alot of fun when I have the time. The most IV Ever done was 22 miles 3 days in a row.
