Take a seat with me on my BMW R1200GS Adventure as we experience the first leg of the German Alpine Road in Bavaria. I split the route into into 2 riding days, and in this video I share my favorite highlights, route suggestions and tips on riding the passes for the first section from Lindau to Bad Tölz.

Have you ridden this amazing route? Please share comments on your favorite sections, sights and experiences.

Stay tuned for Day 2, the final leg, which provides even more incredible scenery and amazing riding.

  1. I don’t even own a motorcycle but this gives a nice brief overview of this road which is what I was looking for. Will hopefully be doing the stretch from Garmisch to Berchtesgaden in the summer myself so looking forward to part 2!

  2. Thanks for idea ) I'm living in Neu-Ulm, just 1hr from Lindau. Everything I need is to find a right day, because all this cars and campers can easily ruin whole ride.

  3. Greetings from North Wales, loving this trip so far. I was surprised to find that Garmisch was on the route as I stopped there briefly on a trip in 2018. On to part 2.

  4. 🎉❤🎉 Bravo, What an amazing tour. Thanks for sharing, Moving to Aviano, Italy this year and I'm going to do my best to do this ride.👍🏿😎👍🏿

  5. Thanks for the idea m8, i'll be coming down to Deutschland this autumn. BTW, the speed traps on the Deutsche Alpenstraße are just on the Oberjoch pass? Cheers.

  6. I just wanted to let you know that yesterday I rode your route from Berchtesgaden/Rossfeld all the way over to Oberstaufen in the Allgau. Did it in 1 day (my own time constraints) and can honestly say it's one of the best days riding I've ever had. It's all good but special shout out to everything east of Garmisch (except the Vorderris toll road which was strange – I did the Jachenau road a few days earlier and loved it). Loved the surfaces, twisties and beautiful countryside along the whole route but oarticularly in the east. The passes were great but in particular the Riedberg would be a hard one to beat. A big thanks for doing the vids, totally inspiring. Won't be the last time I ride down there – just won't do it on a weekend if I have any sense 🙂

  7. Planning trip in this region this summer (Jul/Aug) and this has been a wonderful find. Really informative but also great quality footage and spoken word, have really, really enjoyed this and am gutted you haven't got more videos, your content is great!

Could I ask what time of year you did this trip? Am worried roads will be really busy at my time of year so might do early starts, and also your thoughts on doing the trip from Konigsee to Lindau ie in reverse? I know you mentioned Kesselberg southbound restrictions (3-10), how could one check if those are still in effect now?

Brilliant content, thank you so much for putting this together and sharing!

  8. Beautiful road but man those constant quick looks to the side can make a person sick. Maybe get another camera or two and point them off to the sides for content?
