I used to be pretty strict about the whole minimalist packing thing. Every spring I’d do a brutal gear shakedown and try to ditch anything that felt like an 'unnecessary comfort', especially extra electronics. but I've noticed a weird trend lately where a few things I thought I’d only try once just ended up living in my bags permanently.
for me, its this little electric pump. I always thought carrying one was a bit overkill since a normal manual pump never runs out of battery. but I tossed a hoto air pump pocket into my frame bag a few trips ago (mostly out of pure laziness) and I just never took it out. It’s not really about the tech, its mostly just that it's small enough to ignore. it's barely bigger than a spare tube so it doesnt annoy me to carry it, and it makes those freezing morning tire top-offs way less of a chore.
I completely respect the absolute reliability of the classic hand pump but I guess I've made my peace with this specific comfort item. Curious what tiny piece of gear everyone else refuses to unpack now? whether its a weird camp luxury or a specific multi-tool that just makes the grind a bit easier.

Sort of in the same sphere, but a mini electric pump for your air mattress
