  1. Off road capable tyres have extra strength layers built in. Like an AT truck tyre they're way thicker all round. If it doesn't say it's a reinforced tyre, it's not. Michelin Anakee Wild is reinforced and it works well on road. It's not a touring tyre, but is safe all round, will get you home every time.

  2. Thank You. Been saying this for years, the Noobs cant seem to fathom it. Knobbies are actually worse on dirt roads and gravel cuz there is less tire in contact. Broader, wider knobs like a D605 grip way better. Especially air'd down a little.

  3. I took all my street bikes on street tires on dirt and gravel roads, what you are saying is absolutely true, mud and sand is where traction matters even if you're not racing. The first time I did a hillclimb on rocks after a rivercrossing after years on a 300 with solid knobbies on my 701 on almost bald 50/50 tires I did slide back into the river without the traction😂

  4. Actually I am finding that my 4×4 utility with AT tyres that are more like road tyres than Off Road tyres, get me home & safe just fine. So I'm having a serious rethink when it comes time to replace them. Even though my house is in the bush, down a dirt road and across a creek, the current tyres do it all & in all weather.

  5. Who's running knobbies on their Gold Wing out in NW USA? He dropped it a few times, got it stuck some, had to retrieve it when it broke, but he had fun and got views.

  6. I’ve been rocking trailmax missions for about 80k km on my bmw.

These things are amazing. Sure they aren’t ideal for super loose climbs or deep mud, but with a little skill and a lot of sweat you can get anywhere a 70% off-road tire can get you
