Sort out your calipers first, then you can know.

If your pistons are sticking or caliper isn’t allogned, you’re going to have issues.

  2. I am a heavy rider (240lbs) and even on my e-bike that I ride hard it takes way longer than 3 minutes to wear out a brake pad.

Even if the piston was stuck, I don’t get how it would wear out that much that fast.

Was the wheel spinning freely after you installed it?

You definitely need to fix the sticky piston, but I also think these pads were made of butter. Something is not right. What brand/compound did you get?

  3. Like others avoid Amazon for important parts like this. Looks like you have SRAM guides. When’s the last time you bled them? The pistons can drag when dirty. Clean them than balance them so the expand evenly. It’s a pain in the ass but worth it.

  4. Don’t buy bike parts on Amazon, it’s rife with fakes and parts are binned so even a reliable seller could have a fake part fulfilled.

Also don’t buy ANYTHING from Amazon, you’re supporting someone whose workers have to piss in a bottle so he can ride a cock and balls to the moon and actively work to dismantle democracy. Seriously spend your money anywhere else.

  5. Amazon is well known to be rife with cheap crap & fake parts.

Looks like you bagged yourself some cheap crap.

Buy from reputable cycle shops either in person or online avoid Amazon, ebay, Ali, Temu etc unless you are OK knowing what you buy is crap that will either fail or wear out quickly

Show them at the bike shop when you get new authentic brakes. They’ll have a good laugh.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Lesson learned, will just buy authentic parts and avoid Amazon or any other websites like that

  8. I had a broken piston and rode Whistler Bike Park for 2 full days with my pads dragging and didn’t wear them down that much. Like others have mentioned, maybe they are fakes?

I have Shimano brakes. I tried to “oil” the piston with some mineral oil to get it to unstick, but the piston had a small crack in it and could never get it to work. I ended up bringing the bike to the shop I got it from and they sent it back to Shimano for a warranty replacement.

  9. I’ve had great results with brake pads from AliExpress, multiple sets last just like Shimano. Yes a sticking piston will wear it out faster but I’m still shocked. What’s the non sticking pad look like?

Also, it is not wearing uniformly which means either or both you need to bleed your brakes and/or better align your calipers.

Prob the cheap pads. I got some 4 pistons Alphabet named disc brake set and no issues to date with them other then the front came with a long hose.

Check the pistons and see if they are all extending when you pull the lever and if any are slow use something like a 2 piston block to hold the good ones back while you clean the bad piston. Or sometimes even working it can get it back working properly. Just don’t extend the piston too much that it pops out.

Get some new pads and bed them in properly.

  12. I don’t get why people always saves money on what prevents them from hurting really bad

3 minutes ? You got some kinda fake pads.
Or some really bad mistake from the manufacturer.

Common with Amazon to not sell you the proper part you paid for lots of fakes.
