My first job at 15 was St Albans Saturday market. My primary and secondary school had its services at the abbey. I spent hundreds of hrs running around the boys school (next to the Gateway which the school owns)…the door of the gateway is where they used to throw French prisoners down into the dungeon! Next time you’re there go to the lakes- has the biggest Roman city in England I believe and the pub down there ‘Ye Olde Fighting Cocks’ claims to be the oldest in England dating back to 8th Century!
Really enjoyed watching this as st albans is local to us. Never been in that pub though. We had a branch of Godfreys in our village but closed down. Such a shame as it was well supported. We plan to go to harpenden soon to enjoy some fish and chips.
We loved this one, O.M.G. Jonathan is interesting cool and has a great laugh, you sure kept him laughing, we loved the Fish n chips and the Yummy Pie, so much interesting stuff to see like in that old Pub were they hung folks, St Albans Cathedral and the plague stuff too, it really makes you think. Loved the old town feel we miss so much. I hope you do more with Jonathan, I loved how he was so into tune with you guys, all the right actions when eating etc. Thanks from Brits in Oregon.

I lived in St Albans 1958/59 for just a couple of years. They were excavating the Roman ruins behind the High Street, and I remember the animal market being held. I remember going in that W H Smiths to buy my books. Thanks for the memories 😢😅

Not so long ago I was possessed by 2 spirits for around 4 hours. I could barley walk or speak and my Mrs said I was speaking in riddles and drooling. The following day when the spirits left me I felt a lot better but I did have a headache. That's the last time I'm drinking Jack Daniels, Ron Bacardi and Captain Morgan lol.
