I’ve been meaning to grease my pawls and would like to ask if I need any special method/tool to remove the end caps of the hub. This is the specialized stock 12×148 hub. I don’t recall needing any special tool, but I’ve been tugging at the “end caps” and none of them are budging. Do y’all know any way I can pull this apart? Also do I need to remove the cassette for this? Thanks

You don’t need special tools. You just need to firmly pull the cassette and it should slide out on the axle. Then you can see the pawls
What kind of hub is it? If it’s DT you won’t need a tool.
try pulling on the cassette straight out. if it won’t pull, then you might need to remove that end cap first.
