Right now considering between Giant propel advanced pro 1 (2025, discounted to €3600) and Canyon aeroad cf slx (2026, €4200) both with shimano 105 di2.

Personally prefer Canyon’s design but giant’s value is too good to ignore. Giant has a powermeter included but not the integrated handle bar, which is the opposite in canyon…

Which one would you recommend? My head hurts thinking about this 😅

Thanks!

Can’t go wrong with either, in 1 year you’ll be happy with either one of them. If you like to train more structured or care about your data, that powermeter is an absolute advantage. The integrated handlebar on the Aeroad may not even be an advantage. Also check which geometry fits you best.

  2. 600€ is a lot, if the Canyon isn’t Like „Your Holy grail“ Go for the propel, Even more because a powermeter is Like 300€ on top, and I feel Like Powermeter is a must have if you wanna do structured trianing

  3. so, i have canyon aeroad cf slx 8. very good bike but i had to change the stem length to a shorter one cause the position was too stretched for me (size M – 184cm). now it fits me just fine but was a 200E cost. for the giant bike you can experiment with stem lengths much cheaper and it matters. also the powermeter is a plus so as someone in the comments said, if canyon isn’t your fav bike, go for the giant. also do a geometry comparison between them on geometrygeeks.bike. I think that the giant might be a bit more comfy. that being said, canyon is a cool bike:)

I’ve had both and would pick the Aeroad if buying again. The Propel is heavier and climbs like a dog.

The Giant has hookless rims – keep that in mind.

For some, its a Deal breaker, die some not.

I personally would go with the Aeroad or keep saving and buy a Rose Shave FF or Cube Aeroad.

Integrated handlebar is not really helpful except for aesthetics. The powermeter is nice but its not the best. The giant has hookless rims and usually comes with 25mm tires, I wouldnt like it but you might.

There’s really no comparison. You’ll get peace of mind with Giant’s lifetime warranty. And the support of LBS will make things easy. If anything goes wrong with a Canyon then good luck spending time with their CS.

  8. For me, since i already had powermeter pedals I could install on my new bike and I wanted to option to have integrated aerobars rather than clip-ons, the Aeroad was the clear choice. That being said, assuming you arent riding with aerobars, I think the Giant is the choice. A powermeter is so useful, the bike is cheaper and the customer service of Giant is so much better.

  9. canyon, only for the fact that giant has hookless wheels, and i don’t want anything to do with that. also i’m a shimano fanboy, so…

  10. Tbh it s just a matter of personal taste…I would go with the giant just because white canyon bikes are everywhere

  11. Look wise I prefer the aeroad, ride wise the propel. Vibrations feel more damped in a good way on the propel, it rides more smoothly.

Do you seriously expect a canyon community to recommend you another brand?

  13. Whichever one you want. Performance wise, you really won’t notice a difference.

I would go propel, but you’re asking in the canyon sub. Do you want the canyon more? Then get that.

Integrated cockpit is a downside in my opinion. If your handlebars break, you need the whole new assembly. You’re also not as flexible in dialing in reach.

Power meter is nice, and at 600 cheaper, idk why you’re still doubting.
